Behavior Reduction

At Pillars, we are equipped to manage a wide range of behaviors. Some behaviors we have experience with include aggression, self-injury, spitting, running away, property destruction, mouthing items, and repetitive speech or movements. When we observe your child’s behavior, we collect data to understand its underlying causes. We analyze the events that occur before and after the behavior, which helps us create a comprehensive plan. This plan outlines strategies to reduce the likelihood of the behavior occurring and provides guidance on how to address it when it does happen. We also set goals to teach your child skills that may help reduce problematic behaviors. For example, if your child throws items when denied access to something, we might teach them how to ask for additional time, wait for what they want, and accept when they cannot have an item. Each behavior plan is specifically tailored to your child’s individual needs and the unique aspects of the behavior in question.
